Daisetsuzan National Park, also known as Taisetsuzan, is a large national park located in the central part of Hokkaido, Japan.
It is Hokkaido's largest national park. It preserves a mountainous area of virtually unspoiled wilderness, which is larger than some of Japan's smaller prefectures. It is a paradise for hikers, outdoor lovers, deer and brown bears, and the first place in Japan to see fall colors and snow each autumn.
From Shin Sapporo we took a train to go to Sapporo station. From here we changed train going to Asahikawa. And a bus ride to reach YMCA accommodation. It took about 2 hours to reach there. Next day by bus we reached Mount Asahidake, which is one of the prominent peaks in the park. We reached the peak of Mount Asahidake is by a Ropeway or cable car.
On reaching the top we walked around using wooden paths and saw fumes coming out at many places.

Our stay at YMCA was very comfortable. At morning breakfast one meets lots of tourists and hikers. During lunch hour I was allowed to cook my Macaroni lunch.
The helper in dining area brought warm milk for us which was very thoughtful. Next morning we returned to our hotel in Shin Sapporo.
This is a memorable visit.
